Film
Council Offices, London
The Film Council
is an amalgamation of various Government agencies designed
to promote the film industry in the UK. As a semi-public
organisation, the office space had to be economical.
As a front door to creative directors, investors and
an image-conscious industry, the building also called
for style. Besides requiring enclosed and open office
space, meeting rooms and presentation rooms, the brief
called for a way in which the new organisation might
be melded together. The solution was partly in haa
design 's use of colour and the way
in which a similar space planning arrangement is interpreted
on different floors. It also made use of the common
facilities (meeting rooms and boardroom on the ground
and basement floors, with break out area on the top
floor) as 'book ends' to the general office space.
