Maclay Murray
& Spens needed more space and a proper space planning
strategy to allow for future growth and change. haa
design's primary design intervention
was to move the conference facilities to the ground
floor and create a multi-use space joined with the main
reception. Curved walls flow through from reception
into the conference area making this area appear more
spacious than it actually is. A balance between an established
and a modern image is achieved by the use of light coloured
wood together with brightly coloured, fashionable furniture.
A purpose-designed carpet adds a feeling of luxury with
modernity. Within the upper floors, devoted
to general office space, half height and slatted timber
screens create a degree of privacy while modulating
the view across the office. Splashes of colour and sections
of dropped ceiling are deliberately off-set from the
main circulation routes.
