Shepherd
& Wedderburn Offices, Edinburgh
Shepherd
& Wedderburn occupy over two floors of Edinburgh's
Saltire Court and had reached capacity within the space
available – at least within their current space planning
strategy. To move is a radical solution, to expand out
of the building is always unsatisfactory with its split
in operations, increase in overheads and loss of flexibility.
haa design '
s exercise showed
how the adoption of a ‘ inside-out
'
space planning strategy and the adoption of some of
the principles of flexible working could increase occupancy
by over 10% and improve the quality of the working environment
in what is a fairly extreme building. While adoption
of comprehensive change is still on hold haa
design have been busy with less controversial
exercises like the improvement of front reception and
the increased provision of meeting rooms.
