When Scottish Power Renewables outgrew their control centre location on Whitelee Wind Farm a new building was required to accommodate current and future staff and operations.
haa design’s proposal for the new building took account of its physical location set within an existing compound but at the same time its dramatic setting when first observed against a wide open sky. It is modest in scale but, with its exposed location, has a robust construction and finish.
While primarily an office building, accommodating a highly sophisticated control room, the facility was also seen as a showpiece for visiting dignitaries in line with Scottish Power’s increasing significance within the business of renewable energy. As might be expected it was required to meet the highest standards of sustainable design.
The building offers staff a range of quality facilities to work, meet and relax, promoting health and wellbeing.
